My
partner Philip and I met at the University of Florida in
1986. I was shopping for a Christmas present in a campus
bookstore on my lunch hour and we happened to notice each
other. "Eh, he's probably married," I thought.
I paid for my item, left the store and walked back to work,
unaware that he was following behind me on his bike. When I
was almost at the door to my job, he rode up beside me and
asked me to lunch. I was happy to see he was interested,
but I had to decline and told him I had to get back to
work. "Sorry to bother you, I'm not very good at this," he
said, and started to ride away.
"Hey! Come back!" I yelled, "I can meet you tomorrow
instead!"
And
we've been together ever since.
